Expect a mixture of cooking, cleaning, sewing and general craftiness here.

I am married, but I do not have kids. Part of why I save the things I do, here, is that I am kind of sick of seeing blogs that are just for moms. I like crafts, and organization and making things, yet I have never birthed a child. I don’t like that so many of the craft sites I find when I’m in a productive mood center almost solely on how to do things for children. So, I’ve started saving everything I can that isn’t for kids, and compiling it here.

Well, this is neat!

What an incredibly easy project! But, if you live in an apartment and you’re not looking forward to having to scrub out your rented fridge when you move, this is a pretty handy idea:

Buy saran or press’n seal wrap, line your fridge shelves and don’t worry about the little drips and spills that happen every day! Simple and much easier than spending hours with vinegar or bleach to get back your apartment deposit at the end of a lease!

Deep shells like scallops, clams, and quahogs work best and burn longest.

First, clean the shells in a weak solution of bleach and water, and let dry. Melt paraffin wax or existing candles in the top of a double boiler (use one with a lip, if possible; it will be easier to pour from). We mixed the melted wax of pink, mauve, and yellow candles to create coral tones that complement our shells.

If a shell has a tendency to wobble, stabilize it by resting it on top of a cup. Cut the wicking to 2 to 3 inches, and attach it to a metal wick holder; set aside.

Pour the melted wax into the shell, then place the wick and holder in the bottom of the shell, being careful not to burn your fingers. If wick droops, trim slightly. Let cool until hardened, about 30 minutes.

And be careful: The top layer of the wax hardens first, but the melted wax underneath will spill out if the candle is moved before it has had a chance to cool completely.

Yes, it’s another mason jar post- don’t shoot me....

Yes, it’s another mason jar post- don’t shoot me. One of my goals is to have a house with a chalkboard wall in the kitchen for planning meals or making grocery lists. If this how-to works, I’ll jump for joy!

Make your own chalkboard paint tutorial

What you need:
◦ 1 C of LATEX paint
◦ 2 TBSP Un-sanded Tile Grout (got mine @ Lowe’s)

Lets get started:
1. Mix paint and grout well, making sure to get all clumps out.
2. Paint and let dry completely.
3. Rub with 150 grit sanding block (or paper) and wipe off dust.
4. Condition by rubbing chalk all over and then erasing.

I am forever on the hunt for more tea paraphernalia. It’s kind of a disease, but the only downside is losing money from your wallet.

To use this ingenious cup, you put the tea in the mesh compartment, pour the water through it and let it steep. When it’s ready, you tip the cup to the other surface and ta da! No messy leaf dumping, but no over-steeped tea! $20 at Uncommon Goods

You can also purchase online here: WWW.PAPER-SOURCE.COM.
2. Collect small toys or odds and ends that could be part of your mini-diorama (little people, glass menagerie, plastic doo dads, cake toppers, etc).
3. Paint, glue and decorate to your hearts desire!! I used ceramacoat for paint, and craft glue gun to adhere toy parts inside and outside the spheres. Glitter and fake snow are also great fun to work with - albeit incredibly messy.
HAVE FUN WITH THE LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES!
